.243 would be fine for hunting deer. I use a ,270.

.22 is so cheap, it's all I plink with anymore. That and the flint.

My deer rifle is a .257 Roberts, been working great my whole life. I feel like my 7mm Mag does too much damage on something as small as a deer, though I know some people who go larger than that. Being sure its going to drop is one thing, but preserving as much meat as possible seems more important to me.

I don't think they're legal in Canada except in the restricted or prohibited class. If it's in either class, you can't hunt with it.

You can own some prohibited guns, but it's all via grandfathering.

Stupid rules that make no sense at all.

I can't say for certain sure. A .25 is not. It is prohibited class. You can own one, but that's about all. You must inherit the .25 or anything in the prohibited class.

I'll find out about the .257. Good question. Now i want to know.

Can't understand the reasoning for a reg like that, where a .243 is kosher but a .257 isn't? The ballistics are extremely similar.
