I'm glad you don't pre-order. That's probably the single worst widespread practice, IMO. And while Bethesda hasn't made a bad game, they are notorious for putting out broken games which take months to properly fix, which is itself a terrible business practice. But hey.
Min-maxing is great. Sounds like you just want to be able to build a shitty character and compete. Which is fine, but you should probably stick to single player games if you can't deal with making the best possible character and then having your skills be the deciding factor.
DLC is EA's way dude. I agree it's bad practice but I simply don't care. It isn't going to stop me from enjoying the base game - if I get it. Still haven't actually decided, because I'm going to be focused on Fallout for months, and I don't really play FPS much anymore. But I was very pleased with the look and feel of the game based on the beta.
