You know, in the South back in the day, they literally used to justify slavery based on a bent interpretation of the curse of Ham.

I'm not sure how many 21st century Christians would consider their religion as having anything to do with the justification of slavery, but it certainly was the case in the past. Used to be Christians also refused to deal with usury, and so employed Jews as money managers and tax collectors...and then eventually slaughtered them when the money came due in a way they didn't like. Modern Christians don't seem to go down that road much these days.

So, you can pretty much find a way to make religion do anything if you try hard enough. Most of this young earth stuff is a direct result of people like Darwin going on about massive time scales. Its not the religion, its the people bending the religion to suit a modern agenda. Same as with groups like AQ.

so before dawrin people accepted that the earth was billion of years old but once he started talking about how the earth is billion of years old some few select christians decided it was 6000 years old?

no spider. before geologists started talking about massive time scales they were looking for evidence of The Great Flood to prove once and for all the bible was right. they didn't think in time scales of tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands or millions or billions of years. they thought the earth was young, right up until the 18th century when it was started to be questioned. so it's not as if a young earth idea is novel as you're presenting it; the novel idea is that of an old earth. you want to say 'oh it's their "ideology" whatever the f**k that means as different from "religion" just so i can say that christians don't believe f**k shit' but no, it's their religion and their faith in that religion and the words of the bible as scripture that has them believing in a young earth
