I think biological enhancement will come before full integration, but biological enhancement has its limitations. Muscles can only be enhanced so much before they tear. Brains can only be integrated with so many systems. I was thinking the other day how humanity would reproduce in a post-organic world. Would parents have designer virtual babies? How would personality develop? How fast would a person develop? Or would we stop reproducing altogether?
Ray Kurzweil says the post-organic world (he calls it the singularity) is so incomprehensible to us today that we can't even begin to imagine what our race will look like or accomplish in 100 years.
