i dont think you can run virtual xp boxes from win8 for free either. i can on win 7 (and need to at times)

they need to charge less for home use, more on businesses

and yes, they need to play to their strengths. there is no perfect OS to fit all needs. thats a losing proposition from the get go, and why Win8 has such issues

Well I know windows 8 pro has HyperV support on it so I'm not sure about the virtual XP box. We just have regular Windows 8 as far as I know. Well 8.1 on a couple. Shits a mess. I didn't have much experience with just 8 by itself for very long but man, I can't imagine it actually being worse than 8.1. All kinds of damn issues with 8.1.

Windows 8 is not going to be a popular desktop platform, I don't think. 7 will be the one until the next good Windows OS comes out.

No tech company will survive right now if they don't produce products for businesses and consumers at mobile, pc and television. I mean, the ipad isn't meant for business use but people still buy it. They are on the right approach you just can't win when you aren't accepted by hipsters. They have their strategy of 3 screens and a cloud and their updates coming in April actually look to have 1 core App system so you can produce the same app for the phone and the pc without changing much code. Windows 8 is already on some 13% of laptops/desktops and its only been out a year. There is definitely success, I think the Xbox One will do well if they fix a few certain things and they look to be doing a great job at their vision.

The issues that plague MS are leadership, thats all. They have one of the largest R&D deparments in the tech world and create some of the most mindblowing things but those ideas never come out as a product (ala courier). They can be a great company when someone younger with more experience can cater to the consumer market and also not allow Google and Google Docs to steal the show in businesses.

Why is Windows 8 so crappy? I have it and as far as I can see, it is virtually the same quality as every other Windows I've used. Really easy, stupidly designed with bloat and crappy security. That has always been the case for as long as I remember.

Well, if the customer doesn't get it, there is definitely a problem.

That said, these people must be dumb. It is literally the easiest GUI ever. Giant buttons. If you want to pull something up you just type it. But yeah, this should have been focused grouped better. They should have known beforehand that it would be a problem.

Im a computer tech by trade. I have a copy of every version of windows ever made. I even have win 3.1 but its more of like for colleciton purposes than anything.


My fav Win OS of all time is Win 2000 Pro. I would still use that if it was comparable with all the software I use.

After about 2 days of playing around with win 8 I cleaned the hardrive and installed windows 7.


Windows 8 is nice for people who like things that are pretty and want to look good and aren't doing anything other than school papers and downloading porn. IF you have anything remotely resembling real work to do it's pathetic. Its a resourse hog, its in the way and it's inconvenient.
