these are at least a few months old, only they ask for pre-paid credit cards.

i got hit with one from pirate bay once playing the "guess which button is the download button" game. it's really not that hard to get rid of. just need safemode without networking and malware bytes. i'd honestly be surprised if anyone savvy enough to use bitcoins would fall for it.

Malware bytes probably gets rid of it before it encrypts your files. Assuming some of the reports are true, I have trouble believing MalwareBytes could decrypt the RSA keys to get your files back.
