Apple Watch to Ship this March

When I first heard about them I thought what, that's stupid. Now I'm convinced they will be the next ipod for apple.

I'm not big on the smart watch thing. Feels redundant to my phone. I think they're going to sell a bajillion if these things though.

Reading that the battery life for this thing is going to be abysmal. I'll stick with my Bulova for now, maybe the next generation will entice me.

My DD12 and I both wear the Pebble Smartwatch. Before I got mine, I also thought why would anyone want one. The thing is great. I used to leave my iPhone on my desk quite often and walk to another part of the building. Then I'd reach for my iPhone only to realize that I didn't have it with me. The watch lets me know as I walk away. I've got an app on the Pebble that tells me how long it will take me to get home, or certain offices. This is very handy if I need to leave at a certain time to get there. The normal watch face that I use has the weather and outside temperature on it. Very handy if you want to know how cold it is outside when you've been in meetings all day and are headed for lunch... Jacket or no jacket, umbrella or no umbrella.

When I'm in a meeting and get a text message, I just look at my watch and dismiss if it doesn't need to be answered. Same with emails. If I need to take action then I grab my iPhone or iPad. When in the hot tub, I use it to control the music playing on my iPhone in its base station. The Pebble is water resistant. It can be used for discrete alarms or reminders.

Yeah I just don't take my phone to meetings like that. I focus on the task at hand. I'm trying to be bothered less, not more. If I left my phone at my desk and somebody tried to get ahold of me than I'll just get back to them later.

If you're in a meeting and not paying attention to the meeting than you should just not go to the meeting. You shouldn't be making decisions like that during meetings either.

I understand that. I think largely it's just poor business practice. Not saying that about you personally.
