that's why planned economies like chinas are, generally, better at providing things like infrastructure because it is easier for them to ajust the flow of capital into which projects should have priority.

That's a great point. Hong Kong's special status is also an an excellent illustration of how private capital can be harnessed to this end.

CPUSA, wow, blast from the past, but I do agree with you. Monopoly-finance capitalism must be replaced with a socialist alternative. However, a free and just political economy is not to be found in China.

Shouldnt this be under the economy forum rather than philosophy?
As far as the article goes, the reason why capitalism is still around is that it has beaten all other economic alternatives, even the Chinese realized that when they started to explore market based economics rather than a centrally planned one. I think the reason why capitalism has got these boom and busts periods is because of too much government interference and over speculation of the markets.

beaten through imperialism, not necessarily through willingness of it's participants.

The dogma of capitalism states that the market should best be left to it's own devices and in it's purest state even be totally unplanned and unregulated.
This is inherently a irrational idea.

Its completely rational. The only problem is that governments dont want a truly free market because they are afraid of letting power slip from their grasp.
