Free will is definitely a myth. You're the product of genetics and environment. Full stop.
When you realize that it really becomes easy to not get mad at others. It's not their fault.

It could be just a case of mistaken identity of where the source of decision starts.
Before we knew the intricacies of the brain, people thought that the heart was the decision maker. And when we measure the physiological effects, we do see that activities in the heart correspond to certain actions and emotions. But when we look further, we see that there are activities in the brain that occur before the activities in the heart.
So for a long time, we thought that the brain is the decision maker. Maybe this simply suggests that free will starts somewhere else.

So, we in the US are not responsible for our choice in becoming the huge evil that is plaguing the world (as mentioned in the "Insouciance" thread)? Good to know.
