Was 50 feet from a shooting today

I was a witness to a murder in undergrad myself. Shots happened across the street from my apartment at around 1 am. I heard a few shots, looked out the window and saw someone walking around and then disappeared behind the building across the street, and then heard a few more shots and called 911. Turned out some guy shot his girlfriend in the parking lot and then walked back and shot her a few more times (when I lost sight of him). Neither were students but they came for a frat party down the street. Dude was on the run for about a year till he turned himself in and I eventually had to testify at his trial. I couldn't ID him or anything because it was dark, but I testified to the amount of shots and the timing of the shooting.

I didn't even realize someone had been shot until after the cops showed up and I walked across the street and saw a body on the ground because she was shot on the other side of a building that blocked the view from my apartment. 19 yo girl was killed, pretty jacked up.

I found the body of a murdered woman on the shore of Town Lake in Austin when I was fishing one morning. Had to give a statement to the police but didn't have to go to court or anything.

Gruesome as f**k because the guy had poked her eyes out and strangled her. Ended up some ex football star from Gonzales did it.

I've never felt the need to carry, either. There was a time where we passed a guy broke down along the road once, and I carried when I went back to help him out, after dropping the wife off. The guy looked a bit unhooked.

But to be strapped day to day? I think you'd have to be pretty scared of the world to think you need to be packing all the time.
