Good, Local Brews

I thought it would be cool to start a thread where we could recommend good, local (state at least) brews that may or may not be available elsewhere. We can also discuss beer in general, but it would be cool to keep it to non-mainstream beer.

A couple that I like are Great Lakes brewery, and Bell's.

Well I'm in NYC right now, but I lived most of my life in Pennsylvania so I'm going to start it off with Troegs from Hershey, PA.

They've got an incredible catalog of beers. Here are some notable ones:

Hopback - a delicious Amber Ale. Great for early autumn nights.

Sunshine Pils - one of my favorite pilsners in the world; crisp and refreshing with a hint of citrus

Nugget Nectar - This American Amber/Red Ale is truly something special. It can be hard to get your hands on so if you see it, go for it. Sweet, rich, and hoppy, it's an incredible pairing for bbq ribs.

Java Head - A coffee stout. If you like coffee stouts, find yourself some of this.

Mad Elf - a strong belgian style ale, this is Troeg's christmas offering. It can sometime be found in a 101oz bottle. Fun for the whole family, and watch out, it gets you wasted FAST.



But really everything from Troegs is awesome so if you've never had anything from them, give it a try.

I'll see if I can find some Troegs. I live in Ohio so we get Pennsylvania beers here. I like belgian style beers more than anything. So around Christmas I'll see if I can find it.
