Kind of going through this "type" of thing right now with my dad. He had a tumor removed from his brain a few months back and has stage 3 cancer and his "sharpness" has changed drastically in the last few months. He still has his good days, but the bad days are becoming more frequent. My dad was always a sharp cookie, so this is turn of events is pretty disheartening for the family. My dad is quite aware what's going on, so it's exponentially harder on him.

My dad always told me that if he starts slipping to tell him. Finally convinced him to get hearing aids. Part of him telling me to be up front with him is the difficulty he's had with his dad. He was losing money, forgetting to pay bills etc., finally relented in letting my dad take over his finances this year... my gramps is 95.
