I've never understood the logic of putting major sporting stadiums outside of metro areas. Like someone said, "Hey, here's an idea. Why don't we take the single largest tourism driver for our economy, the thing that gets our city more media coverage than anything else, and locate it about one hour from the majority of our restaurants, hotels and city activities."
Why has New Orleans hosted more Superbowls than anyone else? We're the 2nd smallest market in the entire NFL, so it ain't because of our size. While we're a fun city to visit, even I don't put us in the same league as NYC and a few others. So, why? Because our stadium is about 10 blocks from everything!
I just don't understand city planners sometimes.
