Being British, I use a mixture of imperial and metric depending on the situation, despite being taught only metric in school.

For small distances I use cm, meters (except for peoples height), but larger distances I use miles.
Weight, I use grams, kilos (except for peoples weight where I use stones)
temperature, I use switch between C and F as and when I feel.

Metric is better in every, single way.

F is not as good as y'all are saying for weather. It's not that anything between 0-100 is relevant. There's a magic line in there at 32*. Anything above that is a matter of clothes. But, you go below, and all of a sudden you're adding anti-freeze to radiators, putting salt trucks on the road, bringing your plants inside, etc.

So, what you end up with is a scale from 32-100 and below 32. As humans, we like things to begin at 0. That's far more important than being within the range of 0-100.

Teaspoons suck.

Yeah, I was talking about this in chat the other night and someone (I forget who) was getting mad at me, saying that the only reason I we say its better is because its the "American" way. I think degrees F is way better for the weather because there can be a 3 degree variance for degrees C.

Oh, I remember now. The date format.

I was trying to explain that Month/Day/Year makes more sense because one can immediately tell which month from the first number then the day. Going Day/Month/Year is a bit retarded because all 12 months share like 99% of the days in them. So if the Day is first, you have to then look at the next date to see the month.

Here's what's funny. When I was in school, decades ago, we were told that everything was going to switch completely to metric in the U.S. to standardize with the rest of the world. Hasn't happened yet.

we won't. frankly the metric system is arbitrary itself... either its basis is just on the earth we live (one ten-millionth of the distance from the Earth's equator to the North Pole) on or it is "the length of the path traveled by light in vacuum during a time interval of 1/299,792,458 of a second = 1 meter". which isn't better than basing things off of the human experience like the us system and imperial systems are

annoyingly soda is sold in liters though. sons of bitches.

The machine shop tools lobby has made sure we don't drop the old imperial system because it would cut their sales in half.
