it was valdosta, population 60K. it wasn't really rural. it was rural around it, but my sister lives in a housing development with ginormous ranch houses that they sell for next to nothing (compared to up here anyway)
i lived in jacksonville fl for a time. i couldn't stand the summer, or the fact there were water moccasins in the yard and termites destroying insides of houses. walking out of a bar at 2am shouldn't make you start to sweat because it is so hot. people aren't supposed to live there, that's why hardly anyone did until air conditioning. it's just completely horrible weather aside from the winter where it's tolerable. but it's over 80 degrees out there right now. honestly i'd rather have the 5 degree weather i have right now than 80 degree weather. i can put more clothes on but i can only take off so much
Americans learn only from catastrophe and not from experience. -- Theodore Roosevelt
My life has become a single, ongoing revelation that I haven’t been cynical enough.
