i pay 50 for 30mbps. it's unlimited. why wouldn't it be unlimited? is this 1995?

I'll ignore your ad-homs and just go with my opinions on the matter. 
When you're the only game in town you can dick people over, so dick over the ones who deserve it. If people no show for an appointment, charge their card for the time. Instead they dick over the people who have to sit around waiting 8 hours because these companies refuse to make and keep appointments.

Let me just say this: from a business perspective, your reasoning is fine. But from a consumer perspective, I would pick the company that schedules over the company that doesn't, even if it cost me an extra $50 or whatever. Because me taking time off work is the ultimate validation of time equals money.
I'll lose far more money than if I had to pay for half an hours work. It isn't like this job is complicated. Hooking up the internet in a house that is already wired for it is basically unskilled labor.
