Here's the thing. Will it be "as good as" Episode 5? No. Nothing is. And never will be. Why? Because we remember all the great stuff from that movie, but not the crap. Remember the crappy, lice-infested seat where you watched it in the movie theater where that guy's head was always blocking the lower 25% of the screen? Bet not. Remember watching it on that 18" color TV via the VHS player? Bet not. What about all those little hairs and white spots from the old-fashioned film? Nope. Or how about how you could see a faint black halo around all the tie fighters? That neither, huh.
This will be just like comparing "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" to "Star Trek: Into Darkness". The original relied upon plot and character development. It was even a bit boring. But, it was also epic. The newer Star Treks simply don't compare. They have as good of a plot (perhaps better). But, they have far more special effects and action that detract from the plot (not in a bad way - you're just focused less on plot).
I guess my point is that we need to stop comparing all the movies. We won't . . . but we should. The originals were almost 40 years ago. Who compares a 2010 Mustang to a 1970 Mustang to determine "which is better"? Neither - they're simply different.
