Obviously you don't understand. Because you seem to think that managers have power to change the ethics of a business. They do not. That comes from the top, which means your ethical concerns dont mean shit until you're running the show, and you had better keep quiet until that is the case, lest you be cast out for having a bad attitude or not being a team player.

Somewhat intangible goals......

In broad strokes if your goal is to make money don't bother getting an MBA unless it's a very highly ranked school. It's falling out of favor at the upper echelons anyway.

Go big or go home. You obviously aren't stupid so you CAN get an MBA, but like Dylan said aim for M7 or consider not getting one. I think most people underestimate the quality of schools they can get into if they did well in undergrad or can do well on standardized tests, and they underestimate the degree to which your school matters. Don't go to Ohio State and expect it to pay dividends to your career in a manner that will justify the cost, it probably won't.

In general I would recommend just remembering that everything is political to a certain extent. Wherever you go to work, find at least one person who not only likes you but who you think will be willing to go to bat for you in certain situations. If you want to move up you want someone above you as a vocal advocate, and on the flip side one person intervening on your behalf can really minimize the consequences of a f**k up.

Don't try to be a hero or anything either. I've found that people our age get a bad rap because they are overly independent or want to take to much initiative (i.e. telling their boss why their plan might not be the best). There is a time and a place for this but in general unless you are 100% sure you are right and 100% sure the issue is significant, just do as your superiors tell you and do it as well as you can and make sure that they know you are doing both.

And don't pick a plan now because all well laid plans fall apart and everyone needs to be flexible. In 2 years you will have a much better idea of where your career stands, and will have had much more time to think about your current progress vs. the value of an MBA. No need to commit to a decision now. Maybe take a few practice GMATS to see where you stand but otherwise just go with the flow for now homie.

Congrats on being employed and upcoming graduation. And don't let these people tell you your eventual goal is stupid or naive, you literally have an entire career (and a lifetime of work) ahead of you, you can certainly reach an influential decision making role in that time. Don't be anxious, this is an opportunity (and now you get paid!).
