You guys seem to have some disconnect here. You won't get addicted to alcohol, like an alcoholic, unless you drink large amounts, daily, for like a decade. If you go out most weekends and get trashed with your friends from 18-30, you won't be an alcoholic unless you have SPS genes. I'm sick of these bullshit "warnings" like what you do in college f**k matters. It does not. You can get f**k up 7 days a week in college and you will be fine. There is a reason there is a socially acceptable age to drink a lot and there is a point where it becomes awkward. It's not even close to comparing it to heroin, where you can fall into a serious problem in a month. I know hundreds of people who got f**k up on the reg in college and not one of them is by any definition an alcoholic. I know 1 alcoholic my age and he is a total redneck who has been crushing a 12 pack every night in his garage since like 16. Anglo-American culture is so prudish about this. My entire family in Belgium drinks 3-4 standard drinks a day. Beer at lunch, wine at dinner, maybe a beer in the evening. None of them are alcoholics, none of them are dysfunctional, none of them are addicted. This alcoholism is always a looming danger if you ever drink more than 6 drinks is total bullshit and it's the reason we have such an SPS drinking culture.
