repeated would seem to be the generally agreed upon notion of formulaic in regards to music. repeated. the same, etc.
either in song format, such as intro,bridge,chorus,bridge for example or in actual notation.

Well I'm told that my opinion that Radiohead is formulaic is wrong.

Name 2 bands that preceded Radiohead which, if heard on the radio, can easily be mistaken for RH.
