Not so. I picked a great profession - in theory. I will continue to drink in public and voice my political opinions about weed, abortion, gay marriage, and taxes outside of the classroom. I will listen to hip hop and Pink Floyd in my car. And the district will do nothing, because legally, it can't.
And ultimately, that's all what matters. There is no LEGAL defense. All of those threats - don't buy beer in a local grocery store, don't post about your political opinions - are empty threats meant to scare the sheep.
You guys have such a warped perception about how teachers actually behave. I created this thread because I was amused and wanted to share. Like I said, I just recently posted another FB status about legalizing weed because I'm the type of person to call someone out for their BS. If the district is serious, it will fire me, and I'll sue, and win, according to my attorney.
But it won't. You can't be fired for political affiliation or political positions. So why should I care one bit about these 'apology letters?' If the district is going to try to scare my colleagues for having a sip of beer, I'm going to give them the metaphorical middle finger.
