How about this as a plot twist galt? Bran was central to all this because he’s going to become the new NK. He’s been worthless for quite a while but I would totally get on board with all this happening only to have Bran owning them in the end. After we go through 2 episodes of dealing with Cersei we end up having Bran turn the tables on the final episode. He wasn’t trying to end the NK for good but to take the ultimate throne and use all the living to his own ends. Fade to black.
Not going to happen, but that would be amazing and the fan reaction tears would be oh so delicious.

Btw, the theory I saw for why the Dothraki got owned was because dealing with all those horses is expensive.
For all the ineptitude of the defensive strategies, I think it’s fair to say the NK’s army was so massive nothing they did could have stopped the waves of undead. They were going to get overwhelmed no matter what genius strategy they employed. Made me think of the real Friday Night Lights game between Carter and Permian. They can lunch pail it all they want but Carter was just f**k bigger and much better.

Alright episode.
There are several things I myself would have done differently, were I in charge, but this has certainly set us up for a very interesting finish.
The darkness was a bit too much at times, but I overall appreciated the tone it set. Oppressive.
The armies that defended Winterfell are gone. There is very little left to fight Cersei with, other than dragons and a motley crew of survivors. And because they were f**k up so hard by the armies of the Night King, there is simply no way for the survivors to live in their current position. They have to move South.
This was a good way to go about it, I think. I suspect we're going to finally get to see the fan favourites work together to pull off a cunning and daring plan, a last-ditch attempt at winning over the Throne, or at least preventing Cersei from sitting on it. My honest hope is that they finish the show by killing off every single redeemable character, with Cersei either winning in the end, or being overthrown by psycho-rapist-boyfriend or the mercenaries she hired (on behalf of her creditors). Regardless of how it is done, the worst, most cynical outcome possible.
