Been playing the SHIT out of ARMA2 again as of late. Lot of new content is being pumped into it, as people are giving up playing dayz mod whilst waiting for the standalone. Particular points of interest here are domination (a.i holds towns on the map, players as a team try to take them one by one) maps by hohei allowing you to play both Tajikistan (aka fictional Afghanistan) as the Russians and Chernus (aka fictional chechnya) as the Americans. Also there's a Tajikistan map where its both domination and team versus team. Pretty hectic stuff.

Particular mod/map of interest being wasteland. Essentially an attempt to have dayz's post apocalypse combat, but with teams, base-building and well no zombies. Currently suffers from a lack of persistence. But worth checking out.

So srs question. I have a PS3, but haven't really played for a long while. The last game I bought was Uncharted 2.

What's the single biggest thing I've missed out on for my system since?

Ya. Skyrim kinda bad idea when not on PC. I got to spend a little time with the Xbox version, and it doesn't hold a candle.

Souped up PC will win against just about any console- you get superior eye popping graphics, less bugs (since PC versions usually come out later) and most of all, mods which allow for customization. No contest.

Honestly I'm just kind of feeling like video games don't really do much for me, and that the "next big thing" isn't any of the games that have come out in the past few years.

One of my very early memories was playing Super Mario Bros at someones house when I was 3. From then on I was obsessed but at this point it just feels like everything I play, even the stuff that is pretty cool, gets old very quick. That's why I haven't bothered actually purchasing a game in so long.

That said, I've walked away from video games (or new games I should say, I still love the nostalgia of breaking out the old SNES) before and eventually something comes along that gets me back into it, but that something doesn't seem to be here yet.
