i think perhaps i went into the alternate universe where shitty authors are revered for being good when they write absolute trash.
worst
book
i
ever
read
it really had nothing to do with, as you are trying to claim, the politics of the book. there really wasn't any politics in that book and further i have enjoyed many types of political systems being put forth in science fiction. in fact i think it's the only genre where you can end up really discussing them
it had everything to do with the fact the book was shit. and apparently british authors after wwii have been mostly completely garbage if banks gets on top 50. alistair reynolds completely destroys banks
with reynolds you have actual space opera with many threads spread out far and wide that all have purpose and all come back together for a satisfying conclusion.
with banks you have threads that fall off in the wind. it's the collection of a bunch of random pointless thoughts that somehow got published. i was thinking as reading it "did someone edit this?"
