well things like that are a big issue. vassals just always want independence no matter what you do. when france, HRE, hungary, poland, rus, norway, england, and the byzantine empire shatter (the only really big countries) and reform every four years it should be a hint that something isn't quite right.

very true. after, what, the fourth expansion of EU3? they've still left it as broken as ever, only with more broken things!
example: find me a game where spain doesn't absorb all of north africa and the golden horde doesn't absorb all of europe east of austria and i'll give you a gold star.

real excited for eu4
also death and taxes is a fabulous mod. been playing it with a friend and it's loads of fun and so far seems to not suffer from "big countries will always win" syndrome like vanilla
