Here's a true story that happened one Valentine's Day. Just thought you might find this funny. It's kind of a long read but worth it. I had posted this on another forum a few years back so I simply had to copy/paste it here.
About 10 years ago I was working in an office that was evenly mixed of women and men. On Valentine's Day, my lunch buddy, Randy, got a small box of sweethearts from the hottest chick in the office named Cindy. Didn't think anything of it since she gave them out to almost all the guys there including me. She was a single young woman well aware of her hotness and used it to her advantage every chance she could get. She was a magnet for men's stares but didn't seem to mind since it fed her ego. Many of the guys in the office asked her out but rejection was always the response. The words "rooster tease" was pretty much the way every guy described her and seemed to fit.
The next day he shows up to work with a black eye. The box she had given him had a love note in it that read: "Be My Valentine. Tonight at 8. My place. Love Cindy." His wife Pamela saw the box of sweethearts in his briefcase the next morning and decided to open it. His wife only knew about Cindy because she had come up to the office once to go to lunch with him after he had been stupid enough to tell her about Cindy. When she saw Cindy, she immediately became jealous. Extremely jealous. Most women did around Cindy.
He ended up staying at my place for two weeks having only a suitcase of clothes she had packed for him. It wasn't until after he finally talked to Cindy a week later that it came out that she had given him the wrong box by mistake or so she said. Since his wife wasn't talking to him he begged me to help. I called her on the phone and explained it to her. She didn't believe me either (being his buddy of course). Finally we convinced Cindy to make things right. Cindy was many things but one thing she wasn't was a deliberate home breaker. She agreed to help but wanted to do it her way. She was actually a very clever person and concocted a full proof scheme.
Pam was a sales person at Neiman Marcus in the Galleria mall in the perfume department. Cindy put on her hottest outfit and during lunch time went all went to Neiman Marcus. Randy and I stood outside the store in the mall area to watch. Far enough away that Pam couldn't see us but we could see them. Cindy walks in the store and starts walking around and heads to the perfume counter when Pamela comes up to help her. The instant she recognized her she goes off. We stood there and watched for about 5 minutes while they talked. At first it was clearly a hostile type confrontation but our tongues dropped when Pam and Cindy hugged and she walked back into the mall.
Of course we assumed that Cindy had told her the truth. On the contrary, she made up a better lie than we could have thought of. She had convinced Pam that she had gone through a bad breakup with a fiancee and was just hitting on Randy on a rebound. She told her that the reason she went after Randy is because he's the only guy in the office that didn't hit on her. She also told Pam that for a while she stalked him in the office and, in a last chance play, decided to use the note trick on Valentine's Day. She apologized for stalking Pam's man. She also told Pam that she was extremely jealous and if she ever decided to break up with him, let her know. The clincher was that she told Pam that Randy was only the second guy in her entire life that rejected her. Told her that she was the luckiest woman on earth and to forgive her for what she did and would never go after him again. That's when they hugged. Pam can be a very forgiving sole when the "truth" comes out. In a way it was a semi-truth because Randy never did really hit on her or ask her out.
Later that afternoon Randy got a call from Pam. She wanted to "talk" and for him to come over after work. Pam was waiting for him wearing her hottest lingerie when he walked in. He asked her what changed and she hid the conversation with Cindy and only told him that she had been acting like a total bitch about it and blamed it on PMS and to forgive her. He never told her the plan. He didn't show up for work the next day after calling in "sick".
Some lies are best left alone. I was just glad to get him out of my apartment.
We never did find out who that note she put in the candy box was actually for. Some questions are best left unanswered.
