Yes, a $50k BMW will have better build quality. But, it won't turn a faster laptime.

Dollar for dollar, American cars deliver the most performance. That is at the expense of things like having plastic interiors and subpar exterior finishes.

The only car that comes close to this is the Nissan GT-R. OK, it doesn't come close - it blows it out of the water.

It all depends what you want. And, don't get me wrong. I don't go for "fast and cheap" any more. Not in my daily driver, at least. I would much prefer a BMW to a Viper for daily use. But, to blast across the American southwest, I'll take the Viper.

Sure - no doubt. But, that's what you get when you expect a 600hp car, and only spend $80k. If you want refinement and comfort, there are plenty Caddys that have much better quality than the average Aston. But, you don't get the performance. With a Vette/Viper/Shelby Cobra, you get the performance, but not the quality of the Aston. If you want quality AND performance, you gotta pay for it.

Seriously, I know what you mean. I went and drove a Cobra and a Camaro ZL1 the other day. Wonderful performance. But, OMG - the interiors were crap. Fake scoops on the outside. Just yuk.
