I would schedule a window, organize the jobs by difficulty and job requirements, then overbook by one appointment or so. Like I said, setting up the internet in a house that is already wired is easy as hell and should never take more than twenty minutes. With travel time you can comfortably setup three appointments in two hours. Over the course of the day, you'd have your tech setup 12 houses - more than enough to cover their wages. Especially if you just charged a flat rate for the service - $5-10.
As a consumer I would gladly pay that.
No doubt there would be trade offs, but I can assure you that businesses figure out stuff roughly nine million times more complicated than this while still making good money.
