Japanese people just don't strike me as happy. None of the developed asian countries seemed to have especially happy people. Not sure why but I could definitely see how living in a very rigid society, with high prices and little growth would make it crushing to be our age. Happiest people I saw in Asia were Southeast asian (no clue why but filipinos and thais etc are just generally happy go lucky people) or the average chinese bro who legitimately does not give a f**k and is content to stroll around in a wife beater chain smoking. But Korea and Japan...everything works well etc and people are polite but it just gives off this whole office space vibe.
