The 0-4 Steelers can take some notes from the 4-0 Patriots on how to succeed when you roster is decimated by injuries and a star player was leading a double life as a gangster, dragging your organization's name all through the mud. The Steelers are supposedly falling apart because Todd Haley is the offensive coordinator. That's the dynamic that ends the great run they had over the last 9 years with Roethlisberger at QB. Not injuries, not players being thugs, not scandals...f*cking Todd goddamn Haley being a part of the staff. That's what does them in. FML. As a life-long Steelers fan, I'll tell you what is killing this team....yinzers don't know how to stop living in the past. It's asinine, I mean they still drag out players who haven't suited up in 40 years and praise them at every home game. Steelers fans in their 20s act like "those were the days" when they weren't even alive back then. F*cking tool-bags for vicarious nostalgia. This team sucks because when every other team was busy stocking up on marquee skill players at more than one position, the Steelers saw Roethlisberger and said offensively "we're good." Dafuq? Every time he built a relationship with a WR of his that had some kind of explosiveness, that WR was gone in FA immediately...Burress, Holmes, Wallace. f**k Peyton Manning and that "he does more with less bullshit," Roethlisberger took Randle El, Hines Ward, Cedric Wilson and a crippled Jerome Bettis to a SB and won. Only other QB who took a collection of midgets to the big game and came out victorious was Brady. They want the offense to be centered around Ben, but refuse to give him skills guys and an offensive line to make it happen. They invest in road-grading linemen that are more tailor-made to run block, which they can't do either, and when they can't pass block the yinzers get confused. Duh, dipshits. At least Bruce Arians had an offense designed to Ben's strengths of improvisation; in comes Todd Haley and he tries to turn Ben into a 3 step drop QB, which he's never been, and on top of that wants to play yinzer ball by making the dullards at RB the staple of the offense. His offensive philosophy is run-run-hope Ben can get us out of third and long, and the sad thing is, before Ben got hurt in 2012 playing the Chiefs, Ben was bailing them out and making a shit offense look good. This is what this teams gets for hanging on to aging veterans, trying to force the window to stay open, all the while they could have gone younger earlier and not have wasted Ben's prime years. As much as I love the sport and the Steelers, with the change of the NFL into this weird one-size-fits all business, some of the rule changes and the general suckitude of what is sure to become of the Steelers, when Roethlisberger hang em' up, I think I am too. The Steelers need to realize it's not the 1970s or 1990s anymore. You have to have a competent passing game and a defense that focuses more on forcing turnovers than simply yardage to compete in today's NFL.
For what it's worth, the whole AFC North sucks bad. I had hopes that the Bengals would turn a young, solid roster into wins, but then Andy Dalton reminded me why that's not gonna happen. Him and A.J. Green should share numbers, because outside of Matt Stafford, no one relies on their star WR as much as Dalton does. The Ravens cut everyone to pay Flacco, who played balls out in the 2012 playoffs, only to go back to being Joe Flacco in the 2013 reg season (good at home, pitiful on road). A lot of Ravens fans shit on Roethlisberger despite his quality stats because he played with a solid defense, which he did, but did it while ignoring the fact that Flacco benefited from the exact same goddamn thing as Roethlisberger. All this talk about Flacco going to and winning playoff games in his first five years, and not one of them mentions that in 2 of those victories he had a worse QB rating than Roethlisberger did in SB 40 (a 16.0 and a 10.0), a game Ravens fans love to bring up when dissing Ben.
In summary, go Browns!
