finished the first two hyperion books.
one of the greatest works of sci fi ever. truly. i think it might rival heinlein in likable characters and herbert in all-encompassing political/geographic/scientific background story.
Taking a break before i start the other 2 since i read the first two in like a week and i got burnt out.

Based on endless recommendations here, I'm reading 1491 by Charles C. Mann.
Also reading The Naked and the Dead by Norman Mailer which is excellent. Actually it's so good I'm re-watching The Pacific at the same time because the book keeps reminding me of it.
