I can understand why Fellini doesn't appeal to all, but I have personal affinity to his work. I went through a stretch in college where I was studying art and film (in conjunction with my architectural program), and I fought through all the early experimental films (Cocteau, Tati, Eisenstein, Dali, Godard, etc), and I developed a love of some of the more oddities in the film world. It didn't hurt that I went to study in Rome within months of watching some of Fellini's films (as well as Greenaways Belly of an Architect and Prospero's Books), so his work holds a special place in my heart. I even nerded out and went and toured Cinecittà while I was there...
