I've always been in favour of single payer healthcare. It's not a moral argument though and it's not some right. It's like schools or roads - a public good most efficiently provided by the government. I don't think you have some god given right to public schooling, or public roads ... but we recognise that these sort of things are key to a civil and functioning society, and the government is best placed to provide it. Look across the world literally EVERY other country does it. It's absolutely bizarre in fact that we do not, it would be like going to Germany and learning there are no public schools...everyone just pays for private schooling every year, if you can't pay you don't go to school. Millions of german kids are functionally illiterate because their parents couldn't afford school ... but otherwise the schools are great for those who can afford to go. Germans insist there is nothing wrong or unusual about this system, despite mounting evidence rapidly rising schooling costs are the primary drain on german households, sending many into bankruptcy. When asked why they just don't have public schools like every other country, Germans (per capita richest in the world) tell you they cant afford it, it would bankruptcy the state, and you are living in a drug induced communist fantasy if you think the numbers could ever work. Just f**k bizarre.
