Just curious for all the world travelers in here. Does any other country have the diversity of food that America has?

For instance, in most larger American cities, you can get Mexican (mostly Mexican-American, but close), South/Central/Caribbean American (Brazil, Peru, Cuban, etc.), Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Greek, Lebanese, French, Spanish, German, English, etc. But, I can't imagine there being that many Mexican restaurants in Japan. Or Lebanese restaurants in India. Or English pubs in China.

Sure, I imagine that there are some. But, many?

I've mostly travelled in cities, and some do. Some don't. Places with underwhelming food culture seemed to, like London definitely does.

I think the US is fairly unique though in that you can go to just about any medium sized town in the country and find a huge variety of foods. I dunno though I'm sure somebody else here can correct me on that point if I'm wrong

The provinces on the East and West coast of Canada have great food. Quebec is legendary. Ontario has good food, and Toronto - the worst city in existence, just begging to be eradicated - is actually excellent for having everything. Everything between here and Calgary is a wasteland.

Probably my favorite is thai. The spicier the better. Thai Village in Princeton had some awesome pad see ew.

Then:

American southern seafood
Indian
Japanese
Chinese
French
Spanish
BBQ (Salt Lick in Austin)

Followed by the rest. But, to be honest, I really enjoy eating different things. Even if there is my "favorite dish" in my "favorite restaurant" available, I'll choose to go somewhere I've never been and eat something I've never eaten.

Therefore, I'd have to say that my "favorite food" is "new food".

I see an ungodly amount of American fast food abroad. What really surprised me in Paris was businessmen and shit eating at Mickey ds in their lunch break. Would NEVER happen in the us.
