I've been down south 1,000 times.. I never had any problems or thought it was much different.. To be fair when I went south it was for business or vacations.. So it was always urban centers and tourist traps.. And down in those places they are the same as everywhere else, all they want is your money..

Actually the place I always liked visiting for business or pleasure was Canada.. I always had a great time there.. Kingston Canada is a fun. fun town.. Lots of bars and fun there..
I always wanted to rent an RV, head north into Canada and go from here to the Pacific ocean.. Haven't done it yet though.
