I think Dallas actually has the more talented roster overall, at least on offense.
A QB who has played like a bonafide pro bowler this year vs a starter who can't do anything if you get pressure on him and his backup who is highly turnover prone and can't make deep passes. Point to the Cowboys
Top 5 WR in the game and a couple serviceable guys on the other side of the field vs a very impressive #1 WR, a promising rookie in the slot and a complete bum on the other side who is only good for blocking. Point to the Cowboys
League leading RB vs a great RB, but one who has a lot of mileage on him and looks not quite as explosive as he once was, plus a 31 year old midget who makes big plays but can't spend much time lined up in the backfield cause of his size and age. Point to the Cowboys.
Best offensive line in the NFL this year vs one of the other best lines...when healthy. Point to the Cowboys
As for tight ends, I think the duo of Zach Ertz and Brent Celek edges out a 32 year old Witten in terms of talent so point to the Eagles but it's an area where the Eagles have failed to utilize them productively.
So in most categories the Cowboys have more talented players, including the QB position and the offensive line, which are both more important than anything else IMO.
I still consider the Eagles the better team since football is a lot more than the sum of your individual talent. I figure out two games would be a split because of the nature of these two teams but if we somehow both made the playoffs I wouldn't be unconfident in a 3rd match up.
The late game failures shut the door on us making another big comeback, but to get to why I think the Eagles are the better team despite being the less talented roster is the culture and character of the two teams. If Dallas had been down 21-0 in the first quarter, the entire game would remain uncompetitive. Dez would start screaming at everyone, Romo would start seeing ghosts in the pass rush and Garret would start panicking as Jerry Jones is inevitably on his way down to the sideline. Actually is he allowed to go down to the sideline at away games? Maybe that's why the Cowboys are so good on the road.
This is not to celebrate some type of moral victory that we got out of a 21-0 hole before giving the lead back, but it's something I'm really happy about with this Eagles team and for future seasons - we rally back from deep deficits, and even though last night was still a loss, a team that puts themselves back in the game over and over is will win some of the games they're supposed to lose. This year, it was week 2 vs the colts when we came back against the Colts and stole one we should have lost. Eagles fans were all ready to accept that game as a loss when the schedule came out but in retrospect, stealing that game was f**k crucial, and we'd be out of contention without it. I can keep gushing about this teams character under Chip Kelly all day, but after 14 years of Andy Reid it's just really...nice.
go ahead. keep screaming "Shut The f**k Up " at me. it only makes my opinions Worse
