Well, they also use it to throw heavy objects around and be all acrobatic and shiz, too.
Doesn't mean "only jedi can use light sabers".
Jedi's are better at using them in the same way they are better at backflips.
Nobody else uses them for same reason Indiana Jones blew away the dude with the sword.
