eh, if all the wires are correctly covered in there, you can shove it in the box, no problem. just don't want to have a short is all. i have some older smart switches that are larger, the newest version (again, of GE) switches are about a third smaller so they fit better. This has only been a problem for me in multi-gang boxes though, specifically, 3 and more with extra wires (from fans and 3 way switches and shit). i just pushed it in hard anyway
as for the doorbell, the previous owner of my house left a ring doorbell. it is battery powered itself. i will say i am disappointed in the ring. it costs at least $3 a month to be able to do anything other than live-view or be alerted on your phone when things happen (which you can't review). you might want different doorbell system. there are others that can have multiple wireless receivers, and you can use something like Wyze for a camera if you wanted it. that keeps the last 24hrs or so on cloud with no cost that i'm aware of, and you can record more locally if you wanted to
