If you were a political leader and were offered an opportunity to adopt an alien technology that democratized high skilled work such as those of doctors, surgeons, pharmacists, lawyers and architects, would you adopt it? By "democratize " I mean that the work currently performed by these professionals become so easy with this technology that people don't really need to seek out their expertise anymore. These highly skilled workers effectively become unskilled laborers.

If you accept the technology it'll be diffused to your country immediately, and other countries over the next span of 15 years will adopt it from you. If you accept it you'll also experience the benefits and consequences of such rapid conversion from high skilled to unskilled work. The actual impact will be part of the debate.

If you reject it, the technology will still diffuse to your country from aliens, but at a much slower rate. Rather than instantaneous, the technology will slowly be learned over 50 years. This means you'll avoid a shock to your status quo, but would also mean you're foregoing 50 years of technology.

Do you accept or reject the alien offer? Would your decision change if the alien would offer the same deal to another country If you reject?

Why the hell wouldn't you accept it? The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Enhanced technology has always been the best way.

It would change a market, so it is talking about protectionism.

Realistically the economic benefits of such a transition exceed any conceivable progress, especially if the technology was initially concentrated in my country. You would pretty much be an economic juggernaut and could afford to retrain professionals for whatever jobs were left.
