Honor bars

Just found out that you need to pay for honor bars. Why do they call it an honor bar if I have to pay for it? I don't feel honored to pour my own drink and still have to pay for it. I would feel honored to pour my own drink and not have to pay for it, because then I'll feel at home. But what the hell, man. Honor is supposed to be above regular. In a regular bar, I sit down, they pay me a drink and I pay them. That's fine, I feel like a regular schmo. But in an honor bar, who is honoring who? Is it that I'm supposed to honor the hotel so much that I pay them not to pour me a drink? f**k that. Honor me!! Honor me by pouring me a drink and not charging me for it. That's an honor bar.

When I was in high school, I grew and sold vegetables for beer money. I used an honor system, and I never got ripped off. I did have some stuff get smashed by other kids, presumably, but overall it worked out great.
