Gotta agree with ex, always online is an instant deal breaker. Also, I highly resent this rumored attempt to destroy the used game business. I rarely buy a console game, almost always rent them, and used is the very first place I look. F*ck you, Microsoft. Also, mandatory kinect? The most idiotic thing in gaming?

Plus, this subsidized model they're talking about where you buy a console and get locked into a commitment to also buy online functionality? When Sony is giving it away for free? As they bloody well should? Eff that as well.

I guess we'll see what we see, but PS4 is head and shoulders above so far.

It is nice to finally see a new console generation, as it sort of releases the bottleneck for PC gaming, where graphics engines have to be stripped down to run on 8 year old hardware. Things might move ahead again.

Also X box live is a pay subscription and the game would be effectively worthless if you don't have it

$400-500 sounds about right. Thats where the previous generation launched.

Personally I'm miffed at the thought of paying for the online component separately at all, much less on a contract.

both xbox and ps you have to subscribe though right? nintendo you don't have to subscribe. it was written off before kane, and went on to sell 100 million units, far ahead of the competitors, and sold each at a profit. although i agree, nothing in it right now interests me. but nothing in the other consoles do either.

so if you dont want to deal with always online (which is some bullshit) just gonna emulate the shit out of them and pirate games

outside of mmos, i don't think pc game companies charge for multiplayer online. at least, ive never heard of this nonsense.
