When you're trying to get their attention do you always call your kid by the right name on the first try?

Three daughters here. I'm forever muddling them up.I generally call them all darling. Or you. Or her. Or the little one. Or the blonde one. Or the one with the fringe. Or the one in the shower. Or whasserchops...the list is endless.
I've even been known to use their names.

One kid, so it's easy for me. I always get it right.
My grandmother always has a hard time though, among her children and all of us grandchildren. All of our names start with the letter D. Even some of the spouses who married into the family have names that start with D. It takes her a while to get it right, sometimes.

2 kids. Boy and a girl. Twins. And, I still call them by the other's name sometimes. Usually when I'm talking too fast, trying to get them to do something, or on the phone and can't tell their voices apart.

I have my 3 nephews and 1 niece, two sets of twins ages 4 and 2. Plus I've raised my own kids and some of their friends, and assorted others.
So you're lucky if I even know your name around here.

I follow the wisdom of Bill Cosby, where Dammit is a catch-all that will suffice in a pinch.
Unless you're actually referring to Jesus Christ....

I know what I mean to say and they know what I mean to say so it works out. I don't just do it with names, but places as well. I'm not usually even aware I'm saying the incorrect name/place, but as I said they usually know what I mean and normally don't even bother correcting me.

I have two daughters. I get the eldest's name right 100%. I call the youngest by her elder sister's name often. I say kite when I mean knife. I misspeak often. I call it my Halfzheimers disease.
