I would put the counterweight for the elevators outside, in the space between the two buildings. That way the structure can be a symbolic guillotine for the Spanish economy.

That would be truly awesome. A fitting monument.

Almost more importantly than the lifts, I'm really curious how this doubling of the towers height effects the egress widths.

In most regions (I assume Spain as well), when you break the 100m mark in a building's height, it substantially effects the life safety issues and usually puts a tower into a different category. Going from 20 to 47 levels substantially jumps the building over that height milestone. If this were China (my current code expertise domain), that particular building would be squarely in the super high-rise category, which would have a substantial impact on the exit widths, amouth/speed/capacity of the lifts, AND (more importantly), requires the addition of occupiable refuge floors....

f**k that tower is......I can't imagine how they could even get a certificate of occupancy, much less sell a unit. Maybe the local officials will allow them to occupy the first 20 floors, with the remaining 27 being a really overdone top to the building.

Wonder if I could buy the top 27 floors on-the-cheap as a second-home?
