Old women need to be annihilated.

What is the deal with bitchy old women? The majority of my restaurant customers are 30-70 years old. Whenever we get a ridiculous complaint, it is always assumed that it originated from a woman between 60-70 years old. Nine times out of ten, this is the case. It is very rare to receive complaints from men of any age bracket, let alone ridiculous, mind-exploding complaints.
Yet if there is a group of at least four women, it is almost guaranteed that one of them will be unsatisfied about some aspect of the food or service, who will make a complaint. Often, I have a hard time even figuring out what exactly they were unsatisfied with, which makes me conclude that they do it to get special attention.
To give an example, a group of women came in today. Loved the drinks and entrees. Raved about them. Two ordered dessert... both of them got a gluten free apple crisp. After polishing off her crisp, one of them asked for a discount because, she said, it didn't taste like normal crisp. I explained that gluten free requires the use of rice flour and other special ingredients that may make it taste a little different than the norm. She countered with the suggestion that she had ordered a regular apple crisp. I pointed out that this was impossible because we only offer apple crisp in gluten free, there isn't even an option for regular crisp. She said I was arguing with her and that's why she deserved a discount. I apologized and agreed to knock off fifty percent of the cost of the dessert. She wanted fifty percent of the meal, which she had been raving about. I politely refused and instead offered her a discount on her next meal.
This happens all the time. I don't understand why. The weird part is, she left a ten dollar tip on a $40 meal.
Can anyone explain this? Why are old women of that demographic so bitchy and needy? Does this match up with your experiences with annoying customers? Are the old women in your family like this? Finally, should such people be executed?
