one of my friends keeps trying to get me to play it but it still just seems like a run-of-the-mill dungeon crawler to me.

Nope. Im totally addicted to PS2 and I play at least 2 hours a day.

Killed a few hours on it this afternoon. A very nice dungeon crawler/loot generator.
Its a helluva nice game for the price of free. The limited inventory size makes my head hurt, but I dig the (Lets face it. Its materia.) weapon slot system...and the epic skills layout.
