Just wanted to see if any of you have heard of the driving service Uber and if it was legitimate or not? I was interested in signing up as a driver for some extra cash in the evenings/weekends. I live close to DFW airport so I thought it would be convenient to take people back and forth if possible.

Uber and Lyft are services that democratize traditionally controlled businesses. You'd be ok as long as you don't use it as your primary source of income.

Uber is big here. Works exactly as advertised and seems to be a legit operation. But I can only speak as an occasional customer. No clue whatnot would be like to work for them.

Uber is awesome. I use it a few times a week and never have any problems, although I have no idea what it would be like to be a driver. Everyone here uses it though.

So, if I understand this correctly, a driver (aka me) uses their personal vehicle and can accept requests from customers via the uber apps.
Doesn't it feel weird to be in someone's personal vehicle though? Just sounds kinda shady.

I wonder what they would think of my Civic Coupe then. Sporty, not necessarily homey.

Again, I only know about things here which is the opposite corner of the country from where you are, but I've never seen a taxi cab, a black car, an uber, or any other car service pick anyone up in a two door. There's no practical reason why it wouldn't work but it goes back to the "weird" factor you initially mentioned of being driven around in a strangers personal car. It just feels more like a traditional taxi type situation when the driver pulls up and you hop in through the back door.

Yea I've never seen a coupe or any car with personal items etc. That would be weird as hell.

Yup, good points. Would be too weird.
Damn, thought this would be cool since I could use the extra cash but don't want a second job necessarily.
