I had a host of life goals set that is my time I have slowly acomplished. Most of them related to women, stupid man stuff, or the law. And yes among other things I have won a fight, convinced a jury to spare a client, and...well if u want to know the women stuff pm me.

I guess I have one major youth goal left, to write a novel. Problem is I'm add as f**k and can't stick to one idea beyond 30 pages. I need focus. And you, my fine friends will choose that focus for me. So here are my ideas, tell me which one you'd actually pay money for:

1. The King
modern alt-history/fantasy
following the us invasion of afghanistan the us opts to follow the British empire model and occupies the country with a proxy king and huge ghurka army. I'd make the proxy king a Pashtun immigrant kid who grew up in my home town.

2. Gap Year
modern fantasy
a young american teaching English at a university is made temorary prime minister of a central asian country (fictional kyrgystan) after a coup. Lots of political satire.

3. The Line
semi-autobiographical
first year of a pub-def in county court.

4. Blood Rite
historic fantasy
Roman agent killing Druids and faries in late 1st century England.

Choose my hobby...

They say write about what you know. So realistically the line.

However The King intrigues me.

Writing a novel is also on my bucket list. I've had two failed attempts.

My boner for all things Rome leans me towards blood rite.

Why is he killing fairies? Or druids for that matter.

The Gap Year thing just makes me think of ways to work Borat into it.

I know the descriptions are only one sentence long, but I'm already tired of those ideas. I can tell you're not drinking enough liquor.

Historical fantasy is by far the most fertile grounds for a novel I would think... the other ones seem deeply needy in terms of personal experience to flesh them out... the public defender idea notwithstanding...

I say you take two and mix 'em together. A public defender in his first year of court finds himself defending someone who turns out to be a roman agent killing druids and faeries.

Or an English teacher... king of Afghanistan.

If I had to pick one though, it would be 4.

Gap year or the line. I feel like fantasy is something that you can write about endlessly (seriously, I read the first game of thrones and then thought there are six more??). Writing a novel with a tightly defined purpose would probably be more substantive.

Also ex's new avatar is killing me.

The line. It will be easier to write something quality given the personal expirence. Your novel will contain more detail, again because of personal expirence. You can include humorous elements without feeling the need to be funny all the time. It will be more relevant to an audience than fantasy.

Vampires/werewolf teen romances are out, the money is now in dystopian teen romance books.
