It has been said on this forum that the Air Force used to be the smartest, then they got all weirdly Christian. I have had one person told me that he encountered a greater concentration of informed deep thinkers and creative individuals in the Air Force than he ever have even come close to in the general population. So maybe there are still some intellectuals in the Air Force.
AFJROTC beats the hell out of the Boy Scouts. Would you let your children join? For me it was an awesome experience.

I learned jet engine mechanics when I was in. The entire military is getting a bit more picky. as they should with all the high tech stuff of today. A jet engine works like this. It sucks, blows, and go's. The official theory is this, it creates a low pressure in front (sucks),high pressure in the rear (blows), and it moves into the low pressure (go's). A bit like an aircraft wing.

Obviously, the AF is where the smart people go. Proof? How's this:
Army - You are issued 100lbs of crap, a weapon, and a uniform. You are dropped off somewhere with nothing but what's on your back, and told you have to walk to somewhere else. Occasionally, they provide you with an un-air-conditioned vehicle that has a bigger gun on it, that you can ride for a while. During a war, you spend your nights outside in the elements, sleeping on the ground.
Marines - Similar to the Army description above, except that you're invariably dropped off on a beach and told to go inland.
Navy - You are issued a uniform and packed onto a metal ship with 17-bazillion of your closest friends, then spend the next 6 months at sea, occasionally having a weekend in some cool port.
Air Force - You are assigned to a large base that has all the amenities of a small city. You sleep in your own house or apartment. To go to battle, you get a multi-million dollar aircraft, complete with missiles, cannons/guns, and armor. You wake up early in the morning, go fly your mission, then come back home to sleep in your bed.
