I don't do it on purpose or anything, I just don't think I need to sleep that much. If I've got 8 hours the night before i just never really feel the need to sleep the next night. I always miss nights of sleep and I never feel the effects the next day. In fact I usually feel much better in the morning and then the second night I always get more restful sleep. Been like this since high school. I would just go to bed because it's what you do every night I guess but most of the time it would take hours to fall asleep and I wouldn't really feel anymore rested. I've been sleeping every other night now for the past few months and have never felt better.
And I don't really drink coffee or anything. Maybe the afternoon on the second day I'll have a red bull if there is something I need to do and be very focused but otherwise it's the exact same. Honestly during the day I don't notice any difference if I skipped the last night and have to actively remember if I slept last night or not. It's actually weird because of I get 3-4 hours every night then I do feel tired during the day, but 8 hours every other night is perfectly fine.
Seemed weird to me at first but I've been rolling with it for a few months now and absolutely no change at all, except I have an extra 8 hours every other day. I was just wondering if anyone else does something similar.
