she wasn't even 8 yet

Sorry man that's a huge bummer, I know. My Golden just died in December, 14 years old. Such is life though. Hopefully yours didn't suffer or anything.

she had chronic kidney disease. it had been managed through diet until two weeks ago, when she started feeling ill. it's spiraled and she went into complete renal failure. i had her hospitalized for a few days but it did not help. it was heartwrenching to watch her like that, almost as much as it was to watch her go limp

she was a great dog. some times she would eat like 4 corn on the cob, cobs n all, but she was still the best bitch i've ever known

well Galt, all I can say is that seeing that picture of her out in the field, I have to imagine that she made full use of those 8 years. I think of all the poor dogs being trotted around nyc by douchebags who take them out for 5 minutes a day and tie them up outside when they go to get a latte. She had a fuller life in 8 years than those dogs could in 20.
